chinatown tit-bits

two days ago, my dearest yemeni friend asked me for a favor. to help him shop for imitation goodies. despite being too tired from a month of non-proper sleep, i went (given rm900 cash to shop? of course i would!) we went to china town, the purpose of him dragging me there was because i'm local. fair enough. the weather was being so kind to me, after a month of nearly hell weather and rain dropped less than 5 minutes every 2 weeks, hello city, i missed you! we took the lrt to pasar seni, i used to go there for my tuition 10 years ago, surprisingly, the same old beggar is still there, alive, wound healed, and looks better i must say. but still begging. i had bad experience in china town once upon a time, took my dad's japanese friends, they were looking for rolex, bargained and suddenly decided not to buy. the mean chinese seller threw a fit at us. i was expecting that to happen again but the stalls that we went, there were all nice or maybe i was just too friendly. i'm not sure. while we waited for the gucci tote bag to arrived, i had almost an hour talk with the workers there. at first they told me they are not malaysian, but after building rapport, they decided to tell me the truth. most of them are from rural sabah area. earned about rm2k per month with no string attached. one of them told me that, he used to work under a guy who controlled him but he managed to get away from that. i couldn't help to wonder, why can't he work at the mall or somewhere else, apparently this work is better. suddenly, 3 dbkl officers came to the stall and started to look around, checking out the LV purses, took some and left. the worker turned around, and whispered to me, that his boss pay these "government" officers monthly and they can just take whatever they like. after one conversation to another, i started to feel like, i'm the one who sells the imitation GUCCI as the passer-by stares blankly at me. then, the worker asked me about what i do for living, " you pernah potong badan orang ka? " somehow the conversation leads to circumcision topic. the other two workers were excited because they wanted to get it done but they don't know how, where and how much would it cost. surprisingly, they knew the benefits more than other highly educated people that i've known. i gained wonderful experience by talking to them. at least i know, what kind of life they are living. finally the gucci bag that we ordered arrived. we then make a move, as i passed by the other stalls, i noticed that the workers there are good looking i mean seriously very good looking! smart business tactics.
i swear i saw guys who look like daniel cloud selling imitation LV there!!
